Macbeth

Verdi’s Macbeth brings Shakespeare’s tragedy of ambition and ruin to the Metropolitan Opera House. Prophecy sets Macbeth and Lady Macbeth on a path toward power, but their ascent gives way to fear, guilt, and violence. The opera pairs its brooding drama with commanding vocal performances and a sweeping score.
